Authenticity
It is the natural, warm hospitality of the Barbinis that makes White Deer San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge so unique. They are always attuned to responding to the individual needs of guests.
A gifted chef, Giorgia has always had a great love of good food: she works her magic in the kitchen using seasonal and local ingredients and traditional recipes from southern Italy, the Mediterranean and South Tyrol. In addition to creating unforgettable meals, she’s also happy to let interested guests in on some of her cooking secrets. Stefano is the sommelier and affineur of the house, regaling guests with fine wine and exquisite cheese.
They transformed the lodge’s former goat stables into a wine cellar. Boasting 1,500 bottles of local wines from 142 different wineries, Stefano’s is the best-stocked cellar comprising South Tyrolean wines in the world. The original wooden ceiling, stone walls, and natural stone floor all serve to transform this space into a distinctive wine-tasting room. Stefano loves to receive his guests here in order to pair wines to the evening meal together.
In September 2012, the Barbinis created a revolutionary private golf course where guests can enjoy what just may be the most extraordinary and thrilling golf experience of their lives: A Hole in Heaven. It boasts cutting-edge technology, including synthetic turf of the latest generation, and a two-tiered green modeled after the infamous Valley of Sin, a legendary creation that forms part of the 18th hole green at St Andrews Old Course in Scotland. There are nine flag positions, and six tees positioned at various heights and distances along the adjacent slopes; with three flags of different colors, guests can golf 18 extremely enjoyable and challenging par-3 holes at 1,200 meters in altitude.
